She travels 1,500 miles to get here, and after she arrives he ignores her. It’s not really intentional; he finally ended up with nothing useful to say. He decides, looking at her limp hair shielding her tired eyes from the bright sun, that she is the most beautiful thing he’s seen since he left her three months before to come to the island. He is happy to see her; she is beautiful beyond compare; he loves her with all his heart – he just can’t say the words.
