A Thief’s Life

The thief wonders why
she has three faces,
and not four
(one for each corner of the earth).

She wonders why
her multiple lives
haven’t lent her any mystery.

Her evolution from woman
to thief
has been long and weary.
Stolen kisses;
bits and pieces of happiness;
things once owned by others;
but never given a whole pie.

So, she celebrates alone;
expresses herself through
someone else’s baubles.
Nothing is good.
Nothing is bad.
It just is.

Life is a sparkling jewel
that will never belong to her
unless she steals it.
