Even though he tries not to look directly at all of the festive displays, the reflections of Christmas lights and decorations appear everywhere – in store windows; on surfaces of cars waiting at intersections for the light to turn green; stretched across the reflective surfaces of the downtown buildings. He feels as though there is no escape. But no matter how pretty the lights, how elaborate the window displays, he can’t shake the idea that Christmas is a season for con artists. It goes beyond mere cynicism – he has proof.
