The Festival of Trees is an annual fund raiser of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. It’s one of my favourite Christmas in Vancouver things to do, and this is the first time I have been back after a three-year absence.
Held in the Four Seasons Hotel, event sponsors include local businesses, organizations and individuals. They typically decorate their trees using a particular theme; many of them are deliciously whimsical.
I must say, it didn’t disappoint; it was as magical as I remembered. There is something about Christmas trees anyway, that gives me a feeling like no other – it goes beyond speaking to my inner child; a decorated Christmas tree helps me visualize a world of kindness and compassion where anything becomes possible.
Every year, one of my special favourites is the A & W entry. But look at this cool tree by the Conseil Scolaire Francophone (CSF). The decorations are coloured by CSF students. And elves thoughtfully left a baskets of crayons and colouring books under the tree.
