Party – Fragment #4

The New Year’s Eve party began in a most definitely civilized manner, but once approaching midnight, it took on a decidedly Fellini-like tableau, with clowns entering and exiting the room on their hands, their wide, manic smiles appropriately upside-down; guests juggling appetizers; the host balancing a shot glass on his nose. While curious as to what it would all symbolize in the end, Iris, in a form hugging black and gold gown, feeling beautiful for once, continued to calmly sip her champagne.
